At approximately 1611 hours on 01/10/2021, the Berne/East Berne FD was dispatched for a structure fire with smoke and flames visible from a residence at 370 Long Road. At 1613 hours, Onesquethaw VFC was requested to standby in quarters for possible deployment to the scene. Two minutes later, Berne Fire Chief 301 had a large smoke column in the air from a distance and requested OVFC to the scene. Tanker 25-30 and rescue engine 25-23 responded immediately to the scene. Upon arriving crews were deployed to hand lines and water was fed to the primary East Berne engine. Approx. 30 minutes into the assignment, 25-31 was requested to the scene with a crew of 6 and 25-32 stood by in East Berne quarters. Cover companies Coeymans Hollow and Delmar Fire covered for OVFC. The fire took several hours to extinguish due to multiple renovations in the house that block access to the fire. On scene companies included; East Berne/Berne, Onesquethaw, Knox, Westerlo, Altamont, and New Salem.
